Decide on frame material (beech wood, aluminum or stationary), then specify width (60–76 cm), foam (5–6 cm high-density), upholstery (PU for feel, PVC for durability), working load, accessories and carton size. Order a sample, approve a golden sample, and lock specs in the purchase order.
1. Start with the end user
A table for a mobile therapist, a day spa and a lash studio are three different products. Mobile therapists value weight and carry bags; spas value stability and appearance; lash and beauty studios want height adjustment and a lifting backrest. Write down who will use the table and how often it moves before comparing quotes.
2. Pick the frame
| Frame | Best for | Typical trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Solid beech wood (portable) | Spas, therapists, retail | Heavier, very quiet and rigid |
| Aluminum alloy (portable) | Mobile work, clinics, events | Lighter, slightly higher cost |
| Steel / iron | Budget lines, fixed use | Heavier, economical |
| Stationary solid wood | Spa rooms, salons, physio | Does not fold, highest comfort |
3. Specify size and height range
Most professional portable tables are around 185 cm long (plus face cradle) and 60, 70 or 76 cm wide. Wider tables feel more luxurious; narrower tables are easier for the therapist to reach across. Confirm the minimum and maximum height and how many adjustment steps the legs have.
4. Foam and upholstery
- Foam: 5 cm high-density foam is the market standard for portable tables; 6–7 cm for premium and stationary beds. Ask for density, not just thickness.
- Upholstery: PU leatherette feels softer and more breathable; PVC is tougher and easier to disinfect. Both can be supplied in a wide range of colours.
- Stitching: look for even, double-stitched seams with no exposed staples.
5. Load rating and stability
Ask for the static working load and how it was tested. Steel cable systems, wooden braces and reinforced hinges all matter. A table that wobbles on the sample will not improve in mass production.
6. Accessories that drive sell-through
Face cradle, arm shelf, side arm extenders, carry bag and bolsters raise perceived value at low cost. Decide which are standard and which are optional upsells before you quote your own customers.
7. Packaging and freight
A standard portable table packs into a carton of about 95 × 20 × 75 cm (≈0.14 m³). Five-layer export cartons and corner protectors reduce damage claims. Use a container loading calculator to estimate landed cost per unit.
